Keith Macgregor’s work serves as a definitive visual archive of Hong Kong’s transformation, capturing the city’s evolving landscape and “golden age” neon streetscapes with a rare, long-term perspective.
Born into a family with deep historical ties to Hong Kong, Macgregor was educated at Oxford University before returning to the city in 1970 to spend over five decades documenting the rapidly changing metropolis. His photography explores the connection between the city’s social fabric and its architectural evolution, capturing the raw energy, colour, and shifting character of urban life across generations.
